B & B muffler & GHL Cat test Pipe just installed

Just installed a B & B muffler and a GHL stainless cat test pipe, and my 911 now sounds like a 911 should. Any more power? Who knows. Feels like there might be more.... but I kinda think that's b/c the exhaust is louder. I was able to pick up the B & B muffler (3.5" single in- single out) on Ebay for $275 so for what I have in the system I am very happy. The installation was a breeze. Thanks to Tom (at Pelican) for his help w/ the GHL pipe. If anyone is considering the same set-up I would recommend it!

Glad your upgrade turned out well. I'm sure it sounds great.
I think most 911's are too quiet. I know that we're supposed to be a more sophisticated group, but I think the 911 should sound like a sports car in addition to handling like one.
Why should the Mustang crowd get all the great exhaust notes? http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/eek.gif

Clint,

Mustang! Screw them. I've been driving one for 2 weeks now and it..... sucks. Braking is spongy, feels like sitting on plywood, sways like an SUV, takes curves like pavement is oiled (i.e., it does not stick).

I must 'kinda' agree about the sound. But, as my Grandpa once said..."Never trust the words 'sounds', 'feels', and 'looks'"

HOORAY for my belated Grad!!!!!! I sure missed the old booger.

I think the best part of going to a test pipe, is that you cool down the left side of the motor dramatically. The GHL pipe sits well away from the valve cover, out in the air-flow. Makes for easier valve adjustments, too.

Just a follow-up. I removed the test pipe- my car felt like it had LESS power. Sold it on Ebay for $142.00 and lost $150.00.

I do have new gaskets and a new O2 sensor so not a total loss.... but would not recomend this upgrade.

So Sean, you DO like the B&B muffler but NOT the GHL test pipe? And you feel like the muffler may have ADDED power and the test pipe actually reduced the GAIN? Does it still sound good?

If your cat is healthy and free-breathing, I doubt you'd find much extra hp with a test pipe. But if the cat's collapsed and melted inside (like mine was), there will be an improvement. A good sport muffler will offer anything from a couple of hp to around 2000 http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif

Doug- The B & B muffler does make the exhaust note sound better. The combo of muffler and test pipe made it loud and mean. A very deep rumble- it was great. But the loss of power made the removal an easy decision.

As to the power gain with the B & B... well I hear a power increase, really might be a couple hp which cannot be felt.
