CD multi changer jammed
Very cleverly we have managed to slot the magasine ( that holds the CDs ) into the changer the wrong way round - oops!
Yes it does have an arrow telling you which way up to fit it - and so yes I do feel very stupid! any ideas how to get it out. Not surprisingl;y it just wirrrs and clicks when we press the eject button., It's an Alpine CD changer. Thanks:confused: |
If it is in upside down, the eject button and mechanism will not do anything (except burn out if you keep pushing it!). The worst case scenario is that you will have to take the whole unit out and remove the top or bottom access (chassis) plate and manually pry (push) the cartridge out using small, long screwdrivers, or dentist implements. However, depending on the clearance between the magazine and the receptacle, you may be able to pry it out while still in the car (two butter knives might come in handy here!). You might also try feeding a wide, long strip of packing tape onto each side of the cartridge (top & bottom), then "seating" the tape with the aforementioned butter knife, allowing enough grip to pull it free. There is probably a much easier way, but that is just what came to mind. Good luck! ;)

The receptacle for the magazine has a catch pin to hold the magazine in place. This has probably jammed. Get something thin and rigid (the size of a credit card) and insert it down the external sides of the magazine, and you may be able to release the pin. If that does not work, remove the CD changer unit and unscrew the top cover to get at the release pin. This worked for me when my Audi CD changer jammed. I believe Audi CD changers are made by Panasonic, but the mechanism should be similar for an Alpine.
