Z41 was the suspension package I had on my 1977 Chevrolet Caprice!!

Yeah.....I have not idea how it applies to your 911!!!

Paulporsche 12-07-2014 10:25 AM

Is it possible it should read "241--shorter shifting gear travel"?

BTW 243 is the short lever.

poorsha 12-07-2014 10:40 AM

I called Porsche America.
They could not shed any light at all.

A mystery code

JJ 911SC 12-08-2014 01:14 AM

For the 993, Z41: Exterior color Pearl White Metallic, so its a typo.

Do you physically know if you got shorter shifting gear travel as suggested by Paulporsche?

FWIW, I noticed last night that the option codes for my '92 968 were listed at the end of the Porsche PET. Don't know if your model is listed but you could give it a shot.

Just looked. They are the M codes. Is the sticker still on your car?

Gotta love this^^^
It's on their Certificate of Authenticity!

So what's so authentic?

poorsha 12-08-2014 07:29 AM

From PORSCHE NA:
"Unfortunately, we do not have a breakdown of what options were included in Option Group Z41 from the factory. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-PORSCHE, that’s 1-800-767-7243 option 3 and reference your case# XXXXXX"
Well I called.
A complete waste of my time.
This is going back to June of this year. I basically gave up.
But today I sent them a fresh email with some more "directed" queries.
Will see where this leads me :)
I paid good money for the COA and all it tells me is basic info (color, interior, seats, etc.).
Come on Porsche. Someone there must have access to the info listed on the COA.

Do a search on here and you'll find that when PCNA (Porsche Cars North America) moved in early 2000s (from Reno NV to Atlanta GA I believe?) they changed their "quality" of the COA. The old ones were informative and worthwhile. The new ones are pretty lame as you unfortunately discovered.

I agree. I have had a few over the years and this is the weakest one I have seen.

I received a call from Porsche :)
Letting me know they will be looking into the query but it might take some time as they have to request the info from Germany.
At least they called.

OK, this should be easy to verified;

Z24: Dashboard Stitching, Devising (Requires color). Available on Full Leather Interior Only

You guys have to realize that PCNA didn't exist when that car was built. There was another US importer at that time. That option group wasn't a factory-specified thing, it was something created by the US importer at the time and not shared with any other markets. There should be a way to determine what was in it but the people at PCNA likely don't have much documentation from the previous importer, so it may take some detective work.
