Another 'what goes in this hole in the dash' thread

"Inspired" by NY65912's post (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/841816-dash-what-goes-here.html), I am hoping to learn what should be in the place shown in the photo below. One of the previous owners had installed a little push button for his garage door opener, but it needs to GO AWAY and be replaced with something more "Porsche!"

I looked on my on line parts diagrams and it shows a switch of some kind there... but it isn't identified.

I am hoping to "knock out" the knock out and put whatever square-ish switch that should (!) be there.

Oh, my car is a 1987 911 'Factory Turbo Look."

As always, thanks for any help you can provide.

Headlight adjustment on certain euro cars (I think that's what I remember)

Thanks, Dan J... I really appreciate your reply, but I'm afraid that I'm no closer to getting this stupid round hole properly filled.

If it's a Euro part (or ROW), where can I find out for sure what it is?

So discouraging...

Look in the owner's manual for your car. They usually have a rundown of all the controls and switches. Usually just one manual for all the cars of that year model.

Oh, great idea! Thanks!

So, I did that and of course, the "blank place" is pictured several times throughout the manual, but there is not a single photo (or any other reference) to there being anything in it.

Dang, another great idea that was foiled.

Oil slick or Smoke screen would work.

I mounted a kill switch pull in mine.

Dan J is correct, search Blackbyrds posts , he had a euro headlight set for sale and it shows that switch

you need to go to the "other" section of PET and look up your car it'll be there in section 9

I vote for getting a piece of dash vinyl and cut a clean sharp edged patch. Spray adhesive and it should be 99%

If you get a piece of material before I do I will share the cost of it with you to make a patch for mine.

Good Luck. I have lost sleep over this....damn OCD!

BTW - why not just put out a WTB ad for an unmolested trim piece to replace that one?
