SC Start up issues /w Video Comparison

Recently my 83SC started acting a little funny during startups. Instead of the normal turn of the ignition and the car comes alive there now is a slight hesitation and once it didn't even turn over. I shot a video that compared the initial startup to the second start up so you can see the difference. I'm not sure why the second time works as should and why it has the trouble during the first but maybe someone here might.

Let me know what the thoughts are.

I'm working thru a similar issue in this thread " Non start issue 1980 S C."

On pg 2 now. When I held the switch in the start position there is a click at the starter and a buzzing near the smugglers box ( probably the fuel pump running). But no cranking. It started out intermittent for me then became more frequent. I checked the ground straps at the batt an at the starter, then replaced the batt. Then the ignition switch, now have the starter in for rebuild. Hoping it is the starter.

When you engage the starter is there any reaction at all, I didn't hear anything in your video. If not then perhaps the switch is the fault?

Others here may join in with trouble shooting proceedures for you.

Good luck

Richard

I literally just went through my car acting like this.

It went from a few times where it did what you captured, turn key all the way through and no action from starter. Re-cycle key and it would then start.

This manifested into a larger issue where one day it wouldn't start at all. I left it for 30mins and it started. A week later, I got stuck 32 miles from home.

Turns out the capacitor in my CDI was on it's way out, then finally STB.

I originally thought it was the ignition switch or tumbler, or both, but that wasn't the case.

Your idle is real low too huh.

Mine is doing the same, thought maybe it was something in the ignition as mine will eventually stall and spit out gunk.

That sounds like something else entirely. If you're stalling and spitting out gunk, sounds like you have a fuel delivery issue.
