fuel supply...electronic
new member posting 1st message
facts: 911 carrera 3.2 factory everything 1986 problem: over the course of 3 months the car went from starting flawlessly to intermittently starting to not starting at all. once started the car idles and runs without a hitch. what i know so far: i got out my volt meter and started probing...1st there was no electricity at the fuel pump fuse in the boot (i jumpered 12 volts from another fuse and the car started...once again the car ran fine). next on the list was the relay under the seat...i took it out and tested it using a battery charger and both contacts closed nicely. in the process i dropped the relay, like a bozo, and i currently have another relay on order. but i checked for the proper electricity coming out of the DME to the relay and found that there was no juice. therefore i'm not positive the problem is the relay, which will be replaced anyway. question: does the DME go through a diagnostic check of other components prior to sending the fuel pump relay electricity? i.e. the oxygen or altitude sensor. my speculation: if its not the fuel pump relay then i lean heavily on the DME as the faulty component. any help will be appreciated...danke |
