1977 Option Code V39?
I have the original window sticker for my '77 Targa. Listed is option code v39 for $1795.
I'm assuming this might be a comfort package or similar? The car has black strut housing (Boge?) in front, but the rears have been changed. It has front and rear away bars. The car has electric windows, 3 spoke leather wheel, and originally had 15" Fuchs, which aren't listed separately. |
Looking at a '76 options price list, the most expensive item is "#399 Air Conditioner" at $725. I don't see anything even close to $1795, unless they started bundling options as groups in '77.

I am just going to guess on that V39. how about a custom color??
|
Base price was $15,945.
Destination charge $88 Burgundy Metallic (Sienna) $420 Genuine Leather Interior $1000 Option Group V39 $1755 Airconditioner $895 Sport Seats, left &right. $255 Aluminum fender & panel trim $225 Automatic heater control $340 Automatic Speed Control $210 Power antenna right $150 Fog Lights $105 Some things that aren't listed are the snorkel headlamp washers, Bamberg radio, additional rear shelf speakers, suspension type, wheels, leather 3 spoke wheel, and electric windows. Was the leather dash included in the $1000 charge above? I'm assuming there was some type of "Comfort Package" I've seen listed on a dealer price list for $17XX in 1976. I guess some dealers named their codes differently. |

Could please let me know the paint code that is stamped on the door jamb of your car? My '73 is "metallic paint to sample" per the CoA that looks very much like Viper (aka Emerald) Green, but metallic. The paint code on my car is 252-9-3, but that code does not appear in any reference material that I (or others) have been able to find. btw, it appears our '77 cars were equipped very similarly. I had to finally replace the leather dash in 1997 due to it shrinking too much, but all the other leather is still in good condition. Thanks |
Option code V39
77Targa, I don't want to side track your quest, BUT in my United Kingdom 1977 Brochure, the 'S' model doesn't have snorkel/periscope H-L washers or the 3 spoke wheel. Are you sure you don't actually have a Carrera 3.0?? Send me a PM & I'll PDF the brochure to you. Just an observation.

This is a US Spec car. I have the original invoice. The car has an 85 Carrera bumper with the almost flush headlamp washers, but why would someone go to the expense of wiring the switch in the dash between the instruments and add the pumps and associated lines. I could be wrong that I was originally ordered with headlamp washers, but it was common for people to upgrade to the new flush style.
I would love to have the brochure as I also have a German spec '77 Carrera 3.0. |
My US spec '77 S also has (had) the snorkel headlight washers and 3 spoke wheel. I say "had' because I swapped them out for the flush mounted style about 20 years ago because I thought they looked a bit silly at the time. Hopefully I still have the old ones in the attic someplace given the price of them these days. I may even put the old ones back on.
My car also has the 3 spoke wheel, and I have owned the car since 1985 (2nd owner), so I'm rather sure the car was delivered this way. Perhaps the options available were different per region/country? |
frankc- i will get the paint code weds.
