Disassembled engine? How much to pay...

What is a disassembled (but complete) engine worth? Is it a 3.0?...casting number901 101 102 7r. No idea of condition or any issues it may have had prior to teardown. I have a chance to buy one and was trying to decide if it's worth it.

I need to move quick if I want it...

Thank you

3.0 would be 930, so that's out. Ending in 7R indicates 2.7 or late 2.4 - pretty sure of that.

Would $1K be fair for a "pig in a poke"?

I think only you can answer that. I started with small 6s and went up the ladder to 3.0. Once there, I thought that's it - done. So I accumulated a stash of 3.0 spares just in case. Then I went to 3.2, then 3.6, and then sold the 3.0 stuff at a loss.

I understand. I was just wondering is some spare heads, crank, etc. would make it worth the effort.
