That is unfortunate. My guess would be cheap crash repar. He could score the newer style bumper for less cash that the correct one.

Believe it or not, there are companies (like AIR) that sell "upgrade" kits like that, that let you pretend you own a newer 911.
Its not necessarily a cheap fix-up, but deliberate upgrade.

I've seen that "update" (kind of like "updating" your '73 with a '75 thermal reactor exhaust) before, but normally they chop up the front fender and put on a short hood so the bumper sits in the right spot.

That car, with the long hood AND big bumper, is just plain bizarre looking!

You cannot believe, or maybe you can, how many rust-free early 911's have been "updated" into 74& newer cars. Not every one a "T", either. Motors swapped, whatever's laying around the chop-shop goes in 'em. Between this and the good ones going overseas never to return explains the value of original early 911's.
