Anyone besides myself notice that business is in the toilet? I'm a freelance CDROM designer/Web designer. I've noticed that corporations have really reigned in the spending during the last week. Now, I'm concentrating on marketing. Doesn't look good. Anyone else felt it?
The good news: when I feel down, I jump in my Cabrio and powerslide a 1st to 2nd gear shift. Always brings a smile to my face ![]() ------------------ -Richard '84 Carrera Cabriolet '74 911 Widebody 3.6 Project [This message has been edited by motion (edited 09-20-2001).] |

First a sliding economy generally..now this latest happening? You can bet a lot of biz plans have been placed on hold. We, as a nation, WILL make it. But I fear it's not going to be easy street for the next few weeks, months, years...take your pick.

Richard,
you're doing well enough to own a 911 and should feel lucky (like myself) most people cant afford to own a 911 (or am I wrong?) the other possibility is that they can afford one but choose not to own one. |

Hang in there. My company had a reduction in force today and I had to release one of my 8 employees. There is not a worse feeling in the world than to let someone go in times like these. Our business has dropped about 89% in the last 9 months.
So I went to the P-car dealship to drool on new Carreras. I feel marginally better. |

This is kinda weird, but my business is actually in a fairly good upswing this year. 1999-2000 were the pits...I laid off all of my people - literally - the only people left are me, the office manager, and the owner/chairman who is "semi retired" and doesn't draw a regular salary. Out of sheer selfish paranoia, I am holding off on hiring any bodies until I see how the next few months go...gotta take care of numero uno first! Not to mention that I am pretty wrecked financially from the last few crappy years.
Good luck to all of you in the midst of RIF's, re-orgs, right-sizing, etc. Challenging times. ------------------ Chris C. 73 914 2.0 70 911E Targa campbell.chris@gte.net |

Hey lukeh, on the upside, it's a good time to buy......just when my company's stock hit 21+ this happens and we plummet to 11+.
Oh well. ------------------ Josh Black on Black '84 Carrera |

I agree with both of you, but it's hard when you tell a person to sit tight.....don't sell.....the market will come back. Then the next week the market drops 1200 points. I listen to "see, I knew I should have sold". I tell them to buy more and average down their cost. They tell me I'm only trying to make a sale and pad my wallet. What's funny, is that I was these same peoples hero two years ago. The good news, all clients are not this bad and I still have a job.

Check it out Luke, I haven't see GE hit 28 bucks a share in the 21 years I have been working with them. Jack Welch accellerated the buy back program this week....I think personally. With a $6 million a year stock option, I would think he is buying as much 30 buck GE he can get his hands on. I bought more this week in anticipation of a good bounce next week. Lotsa bargains out there.

Yeah - I went from $1 million in sales (2 person office @ a decent mark) to near nothing this year. The US govt gave my prime customer 'military assistance' in the form of cash/credit which can only be spent with the US govt. My YTD sales in 2001 for that customer - $15K. Kudos to Lockheed & Boeing, no hard feelings just admiration for a great marketing/lobbying team. See ya in 2004!

Motion, I'm in the same boat - I've been out of work since early July. I've been keeping afloat off of savings and by trying to keep busy with the occasional one-off consulting gig.
