Question Carerra Tail

Got my new tail painted and ready to mount...Anyone have any tips on doing this right the first time?? I am not sure exactly how mark the tail for drilling. Is there supposed to be a template that comes with it? There is also a long skinny metal bracket??What is it for? I am mounting it on an 82sc. Any pointer would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

The bracket most likely is a reinforcement for the bolts underneath the tail.

This is more of an art than science. To help though, you can cover the mounting area with masking tape, then have a friend position the tail while you look, measure, look, measure, look, etc.. Once you get it right where you want it, you can outline the base and drilling points (onto the tape) with a pen or marker. However, the easiest way would be to find a used decklid with the factory mounting holes.
