Question Where are the #'s on the motor??

Hey Guys,
I was wondering where the numbers on the motor were that would determine if the motor is a EURO or US motor?? if you guys can help me locate them . i'll post them and then you guys can help me read them! hahah thanks in advance

Looking at the fan, tilt your head to the right. The #s are between the oil sender sw and the fan.

Look in the upper left in this pic, you can see the number stamped on the web.



For a 78, the number should be 6x8yyyy

The x varies with engine type, yyyy is the sequential number.

values for x:

1=911sc Japan
2=911sc, USA/Can
3=911sc
5=911sc California
7&8=Turbo

Thanks guys,
I'll have a look tomorrow,, I do think the motor is a 83 Euro and the chassis is a 78SC Us model.. so I will find out for sure if I ahave a question i'll post it here so you guys can help me figure it out.! thanks!!! you have been a great help.. the pic is very helpful!

An 83 euro motor should be 63Dyyyy, a US/Can would be 64Dyyyy.

ok.. so what would *64C0740* be? is that a US car.. and can they be rebuilt to Euro spec?

That number is an 82 US/Canadian SC.

The primary differences between US and ROW cars in 82 is the compression and the fuel system, giving 204 HP vs 180.

If your car has an O2 sensor, it has the US fuel system.

THERE IS no 02 IN THE CAR.. IT HAS SSI AND i THIK THE 02'S ARE ON THE DRIVER SIDE RIGHT.. WELL THERE IS NO ONE OF THEM.. SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?? COULD IT HAVE BEEN REBUILT TO EURO SPEC?
