Pre Silencer replacment pipe.

I have a 84mm polished S/S rear box on my UK 3.2 Carrera and I am looking to hear from anyone who has a similar setup but replaced the pre silencer with a pre pipe (no silencer)

I am considering it but I'd like to know if it is going to make it too loud.

Any thoughs from current owners with these pipes?

Thanks
RIchard

i replaced the cat. on mine with a euro presilencer and gained some power.

the presilencer is a straight thro' design anyhow.

but if you've already got the presilencer i think you'll gain noise more than anything else.

or have you got a cat.????

I gutted my cat, didn't make it louder, maybe a little deeper.

I don't have a cat, if I look inside the presilencer it is straight through but has a small piece of wire across the boar to make it quiter. the pipe i've seen is litraly no mre than a pipe though.

Are you meaning going from the standard (non-cat) pipe like this;

to a "sports" one like this;

I've considered doing this to improve the laclustre exhaust note I currently have. I'm not sure what it sounds like, anybody???? At £77 +VAT it's way cheaper than spending the £300+ needed for a new Dansk muffler, especially if you stick with a 1 in 1/2 out which gives no power gains!

I ditched the cat on my car (swiss import) and put on the "sports" presilencer as shown above. Bought it from Type911 (UK) for around £100 inc gaskets and postage. What can I say - it now sounds fantastic (like a real 911 should) and feels a bit more free revving at the top end. Worth the money. My rear silencer is a completely standard one so I don't know if it would be too loud with a sports rear box.

Oh, and at light-medium throttle openings it's no louder than standard, so you can drive it quietly if you want (not half as much fun though!)
