911 SC sound pad
Hello,
I have a 1981 SC and the sound pad has come apart. Does the engine have to be pulled to replace? thank you |
It is possible (I have done it), but for sure it is easier without the engine. There are several good threads here on this. This one explains it pretty well.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/129409-engine-bay-sound-deadening.html You will need to remove the air box and move some tubes (carefully). Another way is with a partial drop (6 inches or so). Good luck. |
Number of people have attached the new version with magnets. I'm pretty tempted to try that out.

I replaced the sound pad in my '80 SC by dropping the engine about three or four inches. It's doable.

Any thoughts as to replacement pads?

Have a new pad ready to install; the original had a thick "skin" that faced outward, the new factory one not nearly as thick. Either way, I assume that the skin should face outward? Thanks.
