245/45/16;205/55/16 tires
I have 7/9 Fuchs. Porsche suggests 245/45/16;205/55/16 as tire sizes. But, I cannot find a street ZR rated set in the U.S. Not ready to give up the original look or buy new wheels. Ideas??!

It looks like the Potenza RE11 is about the only ones available 205/55 AND 245/45.
If you can run a 225/50 rear tire the options open up quite a bit. I bought Yokahama S Drives this year in 205/55 and 225/50 for my 7s and 8s. I have been very happy with the performance on the street.

Thanks for the info. Wanted to stay with the 7/9 setup if possible.

What about the Potenza R11. Fronts have a "V" speed rating while rears have a "W" rating. Difference matters?

I believe you want to have the same speed rating all around. I tried to mix them once and the car was very squirrely at speeds over 45 MPH.

Here is some good info on what the turbo guys are doing for that tire size>
245/45/16 (yet again) I don't believe the different speed ratings will be an issue. It CAN be when you mix brands of tires.

I'd stay with 245 in the rear, but increase the front to 225/50/16.
These sizes are very popular in racing, the car will be very balanced and there's a lot of choice. I run these exact sizes on 7s & 9s. With 245 in the rear on a narrow body, make sure the tire doesn't rub the oil line (rubber section). If it does, it's possible to move the line a bit (loosen the union and turn it some) or bend it more towards the inside. You need 1/2" of clearance to be safe. And in the front the 225s may rub against the body at full lock, but not much, and you can add steering rack limiters to avoid that. |
