Steering Column Clamshell Removal Help Request
Hey guys,
I want to remove the cruise control stalk from my steering column, and to do that I have to remove the plastic clamshell that surrounds the steering column. I have removed the two small flat-blade screws, but the clamshell didn't come right apart. I don't want to break any of the plastic, but I don't know how it's "clamped" together. Any tips on removal, or pictures of the inner workings? Thanks for any help, - Craig_D |
I believe you have to remove the steering wheel.... Hub, etc...
On our cars the clam shell is secured from the sides as well as the front face beneath the steering wheel hub... Make sure your wheels are straight and S/W centered before removing the hub...helps to mark the spline and hub before separating them. HTH |
Correct, there are 8 total screws you need to remove.
