I need help decoding an engine number
 
Hello,

I got an extra engine in a recent deal that I made and need help figuring out exactly what kind it is. The engine number is 63D0635 any help would be appreciated.

there is also a book called "the porsche 911 red book"

pick a copy up if you can, its very handy for stuff like this and pocked size too.

wow i just checked ,, i payed 5 bucks at a used book store .. those prices cant be right ... i can get a newer edition though for 169 bucks ..

In addition of the Red book (pick it up for $5) the info also listed in Waynes's How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines Book.
