Replacing those rear tech. info decals
 

I am sure everyone has sooner or later replaced one or all of those foil decals on the rear frame.

When I bought my car several were partially peeled off and left a good bit of adhesive on the paint. I am trying to figure out how to remove this residual stuff without scraping, sanding, grinding, priming and repainting.

Has anyone used a solvent or cleaner that dissolves the glue without impacting the paint?

Bob,
Try 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. Its useful stuff for any number of jobs. Safe for cured paint. 3M part number is 051135-08984 for a 32oz can. Most local Carquest and Napa stores stock it, or you can order it from Car Care Specilaties for abour $12.00.

I would start with some isopropyl alcohol.

If you had changed the tbar/shock or ? on the suspension, wouldn't it be great to have a nice, matching sticker created that referenced *exactly* what mods you had made that you could lay right into one of the cavities just like the other gold stickers?

It would look stock, could be removed of course, and is a reminder of the work done and a reference as well.

I thought of a Deadhead Sticker and Peace Symbol, but that would'nt explain the tire pressure!!

I already purchased the new stickers (wow are they pricey!)

Since I am going to replace some door seals the 3M stuff sounds like the winner.
