72 air box and thermostat
Is my car correct?
I've seen pictures were the air box intake is off to the right (towards number 4 I've also seen pictures where the air box intake is to the left and ends just above the coil, one even had a slight lip on it. Mine goes to the left and is connected to the thermostatically controlled flap thing (there must be a more correct name sorry) The other cars say they are 72Ts and all is correct and original. They are of course e-bay adverts, the first one didn't bother me, but it's about three now. So now I'm begginning to wonder! Help Jeff 911T Last edited by jeff m; 10-16-2002 at 07:27 PM.. |

Jeff, The 72/73 factory illustrated ("exploded" parts diagrams) parts catalog shows the nozzle of the air cleaner cover pointing to the left or driver's side. The parts catalog calls the "thermostatically controlled flap thing" connected to it (also on the left) a "regulator housing". Sounds like you have an original set-up. Cheers, Jim

Thanks Jim
A neighbor has a 72 but it's been webered, there is also a 72s which is not too far from me but that guys car is also carbed, and not as correct as the guy likes to think, I found out by asking genuine questions (assuming his car was correct and mine only a T was wrong) wow, some people are so touchy, thank goodness for this board. Thanks again Jeff |
