15" Road Tier choice for 11" and 8" wheels

Hi All, I am based in France and just took delivery of a 1984 3.2 Carrera IROC RSR look car which as has new Pirelli P7 Corsa classic tyres:

https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/motorsport/all-tyres/products-sheet/p7-corsa-classic

Today 5 minutes from my home and 1st drive, I got pulled over and fined by the French police for doing 55kmh in a 50!

They then advised me my tyres are not legal on the French roads, as they are marked with a 'D' rating, are 'semi slick' and only suitable for track use.

The Pirelli website states they are for Classic rally's and for road use too!

Perhaps this is fine in the UK or USA - but the French cops were not convinced

Doe anyone else have experience of this, or know of other 15" dia. tyres for 11" and 8" wheels?

Many thanks

I would fight the ticket , The speedometers in cars from 1973 have no accuracy ratings or compliance parameters . You were 3mph deviant from posted . Get a letter from Pirelli stating that they are for road use cars
sorry about your troubles
Ian

Thanks - I doubt I can fight the speeding ticket and that is the cheapest part. Annoying that it was 200yds from my home on the first drive!

I have found one option for tires online - but not matching brand front to rear:

Michelin TB15 295/40 15"
Pirelli P7 Cinturato 225/50 15"

May have to bite the bullet and try and sell the old, brand new Pirelli Corsa's if possible

- Any other tire options appreciated
Cheers
Ben
