boxster s calipers upgrade for 76 can I do it?

Hi all,

I have a 76 911s, the car has break booster, with 19mm master cylinder,

I picked up a full set of 2001 boxster s calipers from a dismantler,

But I red some threads saying that I cant use the calipers,
please help from experience,
Can I use them?
What are the exact parts necessary for this upgrade

Thanks

Gilad

I believe there is an adapter that will work, but if not you will have to update your struts to later with 3.5" caliper bolt spacing. That's the only real issue to make them fit. I can't tell you if there will be bias issues etc. front to rear, but If you do a search on tis forum there is tons of info.

Probably not as much info as you may think. Especially on the Boxster S calipers.

I am talking only from a few phone calls and the install of the standard boxster front kit on my 81.

Don from EBS called me not too long after I bought the standard kit. Early 2000's. Said they had a setup for all four corners using the Boxster S calipers but you had to get the right master cylinder (adjustable?) as the front/rear bias was not right with the SC master/proportioning valve. Guessing it would be the same scenario for your 76.

If I recall, 15" wheels will not allow clearance for the standard Boxster calipers.

Call EBS Racing or search for install kits for the Boxster kits.

Gilad,

Call Dave at TRE,they sell an adaptor kit for Boxster brakes although i don't think the Boxster "S" brakes will work on your car,you would of had to get the regular Boxster calipers ...

Cheers

I'm truly curious as to why any of you think this improvement

Because they look cooler, Bill.

You will need adapters for front/rear. The fronts are $250 retail while the rears are $450. The bias will be less than optimal and you will want the 23.8mm master cylinder to fix the resultant pedal feel.

This is not an upgrade I would recommend without hesitation, as it biases braking towards the front, where you are less likely to want it, and adds more heat to rotors which are already near their limits on the track.

Rethinking this action
