Does anyone know if there is a problem with driving without the tach installed?
I have a stock '74. I need to send the tach out to be fixed? Kevin |

Other than over reving the engine by mistake, there's no problem. Make sure the end of the speedometer cable sheath is secured with tape or a cable tie so that the drive cable is clear of anything. Also ensure any bare electrical connectors you unplug (for lights in tach) are covered with insulating tape. Did you happen to notice what speed 4000 rpms produced in each gear? If you did, you can shift/down shift based on the speedometer or you can just listen if you know your engine. You could also rig up a temporary tach with an inductive pick-up on a spark plug wire and the readout in the cab. Jim

Jim and Kevin:
The '74 most likely has a rev limiter on the rotor. If it doesn't, our host sells them for about 25 bucks. Cheap insurance.

Yep, forgot about that rev limiting rotor. Make sure it's the right one; we noticed that one vendor sent us a "S" rotor for my son's "T" engine. He spotted the exceesive rpm limit embossed on it as we were about to install it. Jim
