Ok,
So, my '83 Glacier Blue was towed today to Avio's. The left fender is buckled due to frame damage. Assuming the insurance will not 'total' it, should I go ahead and spend the extra $750.00 for galvanized steel parts (labor unknown) to have the turbo flairs welded/added? I know that now that is has been in an accident, resale would be a lower than before. I thought: 1. Adding the turbo flairs would be an incentive for resale 'additional' value. 2. Since they have to mess around with the fenders I thought I would save at least some labor adding the flairs. 3. The paint is Glacier Blue. I dig it and I know that it is somewhat unique and chicks and kids dig it. However, should I repaint to what I want? 4. I always love to have 'Blue/black' as a color. This is more black with a subtle blue tint to it. The paint is original and in very good (if not in excellent) shape/conditon. Except, of course, the hood and bumper. You know.... rock chips! So what do you guys think? I have until Monday to finalize the final outcome. Input please! ![]() ![]() [This message has been edited by cab83_750 (edited 09-22-2001).] [This message has been edited by cab83_750 (edited 09-22-2001).] [This message has been edited by cab83_750 (edited 09-24-2001).] |

Hello
For the turbollook you also need the front fenders, side skirts, valances. Adds a bit more $ to the bill. If you respray then it will lower the value mostly except you do it perfect. Now black isn´t quite a rare color. Grüsse, Roland |

Keep it the same color. Color changes are a *****, cost WAY more to do right and are very rarely actually done right.
If it were a lame color to start with, then yeah maybe. But it's a nice color now, so stick with it. ------------------ Tyson Schmidt 72 911 Cabriolet 92 C-2 Cabriolet |

I have to agree with brainiac, colour changes can be a problem. If I was looking at a car and noticed a colour change, then I would not be interested.
I feel the same way about the turbolook. As unmolested as possible seems to keep values up. So if it has to be painted well fine. But I think most purchasers would prefer it to be original colour. But it is your car, so do what makes you happy. Life is short, enjoy. |

Thanks for the input, Guys!
As for the turbo-look, the kit includes: 930 galvanized steel fender flares, left and right rear bumper extension panels, and rear torsion bar cover panels. I regard Roland's input highly. However, with the kit parts as specified above, is he complete with the additional parts he mentioned? I thought the kit would be complete and it was just a matter of welding the suckers, repaint and voila....a turbo look! And me, in hog-heaven!!!!
