G50 throw out bearing - help

I'm putting in a new throwout bearing and my manual doesn't have any info on how to fit all the washers. On the old one the two thin washers are on the outside, then the toothed washer. The inside has the thick washer and the snap ring. Is this correct? Also, do you have any idea which of the two thin washers goes on first? The new onesseem to have a slightly different dish, but I can't see any difference between the old ones

Thanks for your help

DC

Hi - I'm doing exactly the same job i'll be able to help more when I get home from work and look in my manual but from memory this is how I did it.

The 2 thin washers are "shims" they are both the same and are fitted to the bearing first (before you install it into your pressure plate) it dosen't matter which goes on first.

now put the bearing through the pressure plate, and place the whole thing on the floor with the clutch surface facing upwards. (it will rock about a little as it will be pivoted on the release fork lugs of the bearing) Now stand with both feet on the pressure place... you can now fit the toothed spring washer (this particular washer can be fitted with out standing on the p/plate but the next bit can't) and then fit the larger ring - you will be left with a split ring which fits/traps inside this "larger rige" to lock the whole thing together.
By standing on the item you should be able to apply enough pressure the TO bearing / p/plate to enable you to fit the locking ring as it creates just enough room.

as you step off the pressure plate the locking ring is trapped into place and the bearing is secure.

my method my be open to suggestion but it should work.

Good luck.

I know the Bently manual describes the proceedure very well.

If someone could post a scan, (I don't have a scanner)...
