motorswap smog?

I have a 76 targa, the person I bought it from installed a motor from an 84/85 or so. I know it is a common swap, but my question is as follows. I understand my year should have an external smog pump, and the newer motors have internal emmissions equipment. I live in arizona and the state actually runs the inspection stations. Does anyone in arizona know what I am up against? will this be a problem?Would appreciate any input possible, new to the boards and porsches as well.

In Cali at least, I think you have to go to the DMV and a test-only station and get paperwork showing there was a swap made and that all the emissions controls for the 3.2 are on the car (goes with the engine). The 5 gas limits for that year engine then apply.

Don't know about Az but It's probably similar.
