Jackstands for Front Suspension Work
Ok - I know this topic has been covered 50k times, but after searching, I have yet to find the right answer. I am doing front suspension work on a 73T and need to find the proper jack stand support points that allow you to remove the torsion bars and a-arms (in other words, not on the torsion bar covers as you would normally). Wayne's book mentions supporting the car near the "seam," but it isn't clear enough as to where that seam is or where along the seam to place the stand for me to be confident that I am not going to bend the floorplan. Most of the threads that I have found on the topic are vague as well.
Pictures would be VERY helpful. Thx |

You can support the car by the crossmember the steering rack mounts to, or you could place the jackstands on the pan underneath the doorpost area.
When I had my car on jackstands long term I supported it under the door post, and I used some 3/4 plywood about 4"square to distribut the load
