Momo Hub Issues

Anyone else out there have issues with a new Momo hub (L231) for a '74-'89 911? Specifically the splines not aligning particularly well? My factory hub slips off quite easily after removing the nut, but the Momo hub is not exactly gliding on even after adding some lubrication. I am debating returning it or taking a needle file to the splines to clean them up a bit. I put one all a few years back and don't recall having this much of a struggle. Is this just the way it is now with these hubs? Thanks.

I bought mine used for my 77 and it did go on but was snug and felt more secure than my factory hub did. You might want to send yours back if your threads look good on the column.

No big deal here.
Had the same problem
Simply wrap a bit of wet & dry around some dowel and enlarge the inner diameter of the boss.
You will find the boss will push onto the shaft once enough material is removed.
Another issue is that you will probably not be happy with gap between the boss and the control housing.
Also a simple fix.
Buy a metre of 20mm x 12mm sponge rubber and wrap around boss so it is a firm fit then super glue the ends together and pull onto the boss. Once in place it looks as though it should be there and you will not be looking at the control mechanical s through the gap.

tdw28210,

Having the same issue with the same hub on my '80 911. Also took off the original steering wheel which slid on with no forcing. This new momo L231 hub is the second one, I returned the first, same darn issue. Were you able to get yours on? What's the trick?

webrest,

Do you have pics to explain your process? I'm not sure I follow.

Thanks guys!

Used needle files from Harbor Freight to clean up the splines. Good luck.
