I found a 911S, early bumpers, narrow body, Fuchs (haven't measured them, look to be the same front and rear) and straight enough body. What do I need to know to establish that it's the real deal? |

Milt,
If you obtain the chassis number, the engine number & type, and post them here along with some pictures, I am sure you'll get lots of investigation hints to go with... ![]() Happy hunting..

yep..or even the model year of this "S", whether it's a coupe or Targa. Folks here could tell you the range the numbers should be in. Beware, there are counterfeit "S" cars out there.

That 73.5T was sold before the ad hit the Internet. Nice looking car, eh?

73.5 911T..
Curt..that car is awesome. They sold it way too cheap. All original, 2-owner car. Very rare color, and real rare interior. Some guy in Texas, is supposed to flyin' to Beaver Falls( home of Joe Namath), PA to see it . Lucky guy, could be a Pelicanhead ???

Curtis, I'm intrigued by your statement that this car was sold "way too cheap" and about the rarety of the colors. I've seen a few other cars for sale during the past two months with this same color interior. I've never heard of this exterior color (Indira Blue?). Is it really a 73 Porsche color? Is there another name that this exterior color goes by that jives with all the various early 911 reference materials? I tried to get the paint code from the dealer selling the car but they wouldn't give me any information since it was already spoken for. I don't know what the final selling price is but it is just a T. What's your view about the market for 73.5T's? I'm thinking it better be damn cherry for $15.9k. Of course, I've only been looking for an early car for about 4 months so for sure I'm no expert.
Respectfully,

IF this car is as advertised, it is a time-warp machine - as close to a brand new 73 911 as one can find. If it were an S, it would be a $40k+ machine. So I think $16k for this T is pretty fair. -- Curt

Indira Blue....
I couldn't find the factory paint code for that color, but no doubt the paint on this car is original. My experience on car pricing leads me to believe that currently the market on "low original milage" cars is very hot. This car appears to be a ducumented very low milage early car in pristine condition. Out here at the German Auto Fest, many of us saw a 12,000 mile, 1970E Sporto, that "should" have sold for $34,000. Now a sporto, IMHO, is NOT what I would say is a driver nor an enthusiasts car..so, where is the redeeming value in buying this car ?? ONE: to show only...
This 73.5 car could have very easily gone for low $20's out here in California. How many 43,000 mile, 30 year old cars are there of any model period ?? The color combo/interior are ( or appear) to be excellent. I'm sure many here on this board would say that the "going" rate for a 73 P-car is in the $9,000-$12,000 range and that would ONLY be for a T. I just called on a new (within 24 hr.) ad for a 73T here in LA, it was gone in 1 hour for $9,300.00. So, to purcahse a nice car that one, needs no paint job, two, needs no interior work, three needs no motor attention, four, has very good documentation....has IMHO, lots of room for appreciation. |

I'm becoming too cynical!
Thanks for your thoughts on this car. I think I've become too cynical over the past few months while searching for an early car. I have consistently experienced sellers that either flat out lie or see their cars through rose colored glasses. Recently I was seriously interested in a silver 72T in AZ that was, to quote the seller, PERFECT. He wanted $16,500. Based on the excellent checkout that local Pelican member RJ Gilliam did on this car, I felt it really was worth at most $10k.
The seller of this 73.5T is a car dealer, so hyperbole is a possibility. Their ad doesn't make any claims about documentation for this car, but in all fairness, I guess we can assume there is documentation on this car. I really was very interested in making a run at this car, even though it didn't have my preferred MFI. I thought I was quick to contact the dealer once the ad first appeared; however, it appears I wasn't quick enough. Unless the buyer finds this to be a lesser car than what the dealer advertised, I'll never know if it was a time capsule or not. BTW - doesn't the engine lid look misaligned?

misaligned..?
It's amazing our "what we see" observations. I suppose I'm a bit jaded... I'm a rust, paint, motor, interior and doc "looker". A misaligned rear trunk takes 5 minutes and NO $$ to fix....
BTW...I spoke to the owners of the car dealership that purchased this car from the 2nd owner. Can you imagine this car with a set of Fuchs, European turn-signals,H-4's, and lowered properly, and a set of thru-the-grill driving/fog lights....it would look completely different and then maybe Curt E would understand my valuation... |

"then maybe Curt E would understand my valuation..."
I'm agreeing with you - it's undervalued! IF it is as represented. The misaligned deck probably means nothing - or it might mean something's been wacked. Lots of if's, probably's, and might's in my sentence. ![]() |

A color very close to that blue was called "Albert Blue" in 1970. Perhaps A B is slightly darker, hard to say from those pictures.
The book "Carrera RS" lists a Dalmatian Blue 4848 329 as a series paint color in 1973. Looks also very close to both colors here mentioned. I can find NO reference to "Indira Blue" in my meager library.. ![]()
