What is this tool for?

Hi folks. I hope someone can tell me what this screw driver is for:

I am missing most of the tools on my 1970 911T tool kit and looking to get these. But I wonder what this one is for, as it has a particularly alongated flat tip.
Thanks
Jose

It's called a "flat blade screwdriver".

I don't know what it's supposed to be for. Every time I use one I end up stabbing myself in the hand opposite the one holding the tool.

You can use if for anything that requires a flat blade screw driver. I suppose its primary purpose is to hold the alternator pulley while taking off the fan belt.

If it is "correct" for the year of your ride, it is expensive if you lose it.

Usually through the muscle at the base of my thumb.
Abductor pollicis.

dude, Wrongo. The thingy with the two prongs next to the flat blade screwdriver is specifically designed to hold the Fan when you need to remove the nut.

What is with the "dude" and the "Wrongo"? What is this, "Fast times at Ridgemont High" and you are playing Spicoli?

Thanks guys for your responses. Before I buy a reproduction of this tool to complete my 1970 911T's tool kit, I was wondering why this flat blade screwdriver had that unusually long flat blade. I wondered that there might be a specific use in the car for its long blade. From your responses I am lead to believe that this is just an ordinary general purpose flat blade screwdriver.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif
