oil tank breather hose to rain shields

I'm looking to route the oil tank breather hose to my PMO style rain shields on my carbs. Car is a 1968 911 with Webers and the stock oil tank. The current setup uses the k&n filter. The hose is completely saturated in oil and needs to be replaced, I would assume I can clean the filter but I'm curious as to what type of setup would be required to eliminate the filter and go to the rain shields.

Thanks,
Dan

Plumbed mine out the front of the tin, over the trans and down to the ground. Dont need oil in the carbs or fumes in the car.

Thanks. I didn't even think about just venting out to the ground.

Under certain conditions, crankcase pressure and/or g-forces can force oil out of the vent tube. That's why the suggestion to interpose a vent tank between the oil tank and the ground or intake tract (also suggested). You want to avoid venting liquid oil onto the ground where it might interfere with rear traction.

BTW, most track regs. require a puke tank for just that possibility.

More to the point, the center placed, post axle, vent drain hose plumbing works well. Also, you must run a proper air filter, of whatever sort. Rain guards are cute, but the stock air distributor is the solution.

Rain guards go over the air filter if he is running Webers or PMO's. There really is no other option. Not about being "cute".. Its all there is. All he needs is a catch can. Easy to install. Properly vented. Less than $100.

Beyond politically correct. Don't we have enough crap in the air and ground already ..... from my leaking engine? Besides, oil will cling to the undersides of your car. Good enough reason?

On my 83 911 The oil tank itself was used as a catch can.
I just used that and then routed the vent from there to the air cleaner.
