Early car audio - radio reception problem

Are there any audiophiles out there that can help me? I have a 72 911 with a late model CD player installed, and cannot get anywhere close to decent radio reception.

The head unit is a higher end Panasonic with their supertuner, but the original antenna and the replacement (nothing fancy - just a short whip w/coil) can bring in max of two stations. My other cars don't have a problem.

Are there any solutions out there?

Thanks!

If you have already tried two antennas, I'm starting to think you have a radio problem. Two things I would look for: first check to see if the tuner has a antenna amplifier. If it does, it might need a separate 12 volt power connection. Second, pull the antenna connection out of the back of the radio. Now just using your finger touch the input socket for the antenna on the radio (in effect using your body as an antenna). Does the signal get stronger or can you pull in more stations? If so, you have the bad luck of having two bad antennas. If it stays the same, I think you have a bad antenna socket connection inside the radio.
