Yep, that looks like a good deal if the motor is as advertised. It does look a bit worn for only 30k miles.

Am I mistaken or shouldn't a 1986 engine be a 3.2L?

Actually it is a 3.2, but one of the cylinders has so much built up gumm and coke that the effective displacement is only 3.0
![]() ![]() ![]() I think this ad is too easy a target for us!

The engine looks to be an 80-83 SC 3.0.
Not sure where they get 30,000 miles from - I'd doubt that based on the pic and the fact that the vast majority of SCs have done a lot more than 1500 miles per year. But, still, as long as it runs decent, it likely was a good deal at $1800, even assuming it has a couple of broken head studs, etc. It has Carrera tensioners, so at least at some point in its life, it had an owner that seemed to care about it. Maybe not bargain of the century (that's a long time) - given the obvious errors/misreps in the ad, its hard to judge the condition and value. |

I contact the seller a few days ago. He would not give out the motor ID. He said something about trying to avoid eBay fraud. Whatever.
I think this engine is in the Ukraine! |

Probably a typo ... '76 Carrera 3.0 seems much more likely ...

That is definitely not an 86! I have an 86 and it looks nothing like it. Wrong a/c compressor. Wrong air filter setup .Yadda Yadda.

Was gonna bid on this but thought it was too good to be true...
After reviewing the newly listed parts on eBay... am I nuts or is this the same engine?

Certainly the same picture of the engine.
As I thought, an 80-83 SC (they say its an 83). Although its had a lot of miles put on it in the last few days. Gone from being a 30,000 mile engine to being over 100,000 miles. |
