Need some more spacer help please
 

I recently purchased a set of 17 Cup II take-offs. Upon purchasing I was informed that I would need spacers/adapters to make them fit. Before I went to pick up the wheels I recalled taking a quick peek at the calipers and the rotors and saw what I thought was a spacer already installed. So I bring my wheels home and find that the wheels on the front still won't clear the shocks and the rear had no spacers but the wheel just barely won't clear. My question is Is what I'm thinking is a spacer a spacer or an OEM piece? It bolts to the rotor and is 1 3/4 in. wide. It looks like I only need 1/4 or so for each wheel to fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am dying to drive with the wheels on the car now that I have seen what they are going to look like.

If it's only 1/4" you need, you can use a plate as long as you have enough threads left to engage the wheel nuts.

Spacers come in various thicknesses. With some, the existing lug studs go through the spacer and the spacer is just pinched between the wheel and the rotor. With others, the spacer bolts to the rotor/hub and the wheel bolts to the spacer....a total of ten studs and nuts. The former kind is preferred by track inspectors. The latter (ten-nut kind) is okay, but not approved at some tracks. If you're going to use a simpler through- spacer, then you may need longer studs. At any rate, both types are available and you should be able to locate the right thickness for your situation.

I was correct then it is a wheel spacer that is 1 3/4 in. wide and the rear has none. If I add another 1/4 up front that brings me to 2 in. like I was told but the rear is really throwing me off I could have sworn that I was told I would need like 1.5 in. back there, is this correct? If I did that I think I would hitting the fender lip. I think I'll try to use some washers to get an idea of how much space I really need.

Depends on the car and the wheel used....."I" had an SC that used 993 wheels. I used 1 inch in the front and two inch spacers in the rear....
