As an owner of both a modded 79 Porsche 911SC and an Top Flight 72 Corvette LT.-1, I too have noticed a big difference between Porsche and GM cultures. Porsche guys are hot rodders through and through...always trying to upgrade and make things better/different than original. GM guys, especially Corvette NCRS members, are originality purists. I enjoy both cultures for what that are...completely unique and authentic. My advice is to just have fun and respect each culture for being completely different animals!

I'm definitely in the "it's your car" camp. Especially on something as reversible as this. Do what you like.
I decided the big Carrera stripes were too "look at me" for my taste, so I went with something a bit more subtle. (Custom made by NBD Graphics.) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413671984.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1413672001.jpg |
Nice. Arne. That is a really cool twist on the stripes.
I am usually all about, Its your car- do what you want, but... The huge Carrera name is a name for what your car is. SC was an SC, Carrera was a Carrera. Where to draw the line? If someone puts an M3 Badge on a 325, that is frowned (flamed) upon. An SS badge on a non SS is just a lie. Now, with that said, My car is backdated so is that a lie? I guess so. But I don't care, its my car. I call my car a RSC. I like that cause there never was an RSC, and there never was a car like mine (IMHO). It is also saying SC still. |
I added the Carrera script after I tweaked the car to look like a 3.0 Carrera. Never had any negative comments. The wing and spoiler were options at the time. Obviously the script on the side is just a period correct Porsche decal.
The one thing I have not done is add the "Carrera 3.0" emblem to the decklid. Maybe it's a regional thing? 911s are relatively rare in CT, so very few know the difference. |
