911 Graphics Question

So, I used to restore older GM products and absolutely hate to see clones, tribute cars or cars just badged as an SS, RS, Z/28 etc

I see people with their 911's that have Carrera graphics, RS etc and it doesn't seem to bother anyone. Is this something that is acceptable in the Porsche world?

Personally I like the graphics but would be afraid that someone would look at my car and bash me for calling it a Carrera.

IMO, unless the person is trying to claim it is real, I don't have an issue with it. If done tastefully it can look great. Purists may poo-poo it but real gearheads may appreciate the look.

I saw a 65(I think) LeMans go through the Mecum auction this weekend which was a total clone of the GTO. The seller didn't hide and the car looked great.

Tom, for your 911Ts, I would contact Bob Tilton on Early S or at werkcrew.com. He makes the best repro stripes for early cars with the correct font.
Here's my 72T with his stripes on it:

I love that graphic for my 1970T. Is that a factory type graphic?

Every 911 from 84 - 89 is a Carrera. The factory cheapened the name. As to graphics, it is your ride do with it what you want. If you get grief and it bothers you peel them off. Otherwise tell them to pound sand.

I can help you with custom colors and styles as well as the oem.

To me, putting stickers on your car to look like something else is kinda like dressing like Spock and going to the sci-fi convention. To each his own.......if it makes you happy and it's not deceitful, go ahead.

Thanks guys

I think when the time comes I am going to add the graphics.

Love the stuff No Bad Days Graphics does.

Nahhh, no deceit. If a 3.2, it's a Carrera.

If an SC, it's a damned Super Carrera..........like mine. You can sticker that one to the moon. It's 180hp (well, when new) of absolute fury.

Well it isn't an SC but it does have a 3.0 in it!

I've got a 73 that looks the part of a 2.8 carerra RSR. It even has a real carerra 3.0 engine. People still tell me that it can't wear a carerra stripe ;-)

Almost just like it, but mine is a little more wheezy. The compression on the Opel GT is easily 13:1 - you can tell by his thumbs up signal when the pistons are popping. That exhaust at the muffler would easily break a wrist.

Also, I wonder if that car is the incredibly rare, one off diesel GT? The predecessor to the Audi Lemans winning diesel cars? Check the smoke.

Yeah, I agree totally a personal choice.

I was going to do Carrera on my 77 but now I'm going with magnagrafik early Porsche striping on my car like that T. I was trying to decided between the two myself.

I wrestled with putting graphics on my "Super" Carrera (even if the power ain't so Super). I saw a car with a similar color combo and liked it - it's red so it already has a strike against it so wth. Not trying to pass it off as the real deal since it still has flags, black window trim my custom bumpers etc. Anybody who knows real RSs wouldn't be fooled for a second. Finally I said to myself, Self it's you car so you can do what ever the h you want and anyone who doesn't like it can go take a flying (well you get the picture). Besides nothing is un-reversible. So I decided to go with it and like it. I called it a Carrera S, since it technically is an SC - just the dyslexic version.

Ha! No doubt about that! And if not broken bones, you know it would definitely send some baby rabbits running for cover!

The red on white looks great. Does anyone have speed yellow with graphics? How about Albert Blue?
