Question 70 911T Transmission 1st Gear Clash Question

Greeting Pelicans,

I've got an 70 911 T with a 5 Speed Transmission. When I'm stopped and put it into 1st gear sometimes is slides in easily, other times I have to "stir the pot" and move it up and down in the slot and occasionally I get a typical gear clash. The tranny was rebuilt a few years ago and has always seemed to have this behavior........

What's wrong and can I do some sort of adjustment?

Dirty Marty

Has anything been done to the bushing on the shift rod or the coupler? Or the whatever you call it at the end/bottom of the shift lever? Have you looked at these?

The image below is for a later car, but close to what yours should look like. Parts 56, 57, and 61.

There are lots of threads on this topic (worn out bushings).
