SSI exhaust and heating system
I have a 1985 Carrera coupe and I'd like to install the SSI headers and a Porsche Sport 2-1 muffler. We're having trouble attaching to the cars heating system. Is there a simple way to do this without having to backdate the car to pre-74? I'd rather not have to change so many things on my car. I'm not opposed to having ss metal adapters made to complete.

carreras need the whole conversion. no room for that cross-pipe for air into the exchangers. buy a factory right side air duct, as the one pelican sells is clocked too high and won't fit under the carrera aluminum a/c bracket.

Backdating the heat is the best way. This way there are two parallel flows for heat unlike the 3.2 system which has a single input and cross-over system.
Why not backdate the heat? Cleans up the engine bay and gives great heat.

What do I need to do to backdate the heating system and what parts do I need to order?

Not sure what parts are needed, but here's a picture of a Carrera with SSIs (not mine) to give ideas.

Thanks for all the advice. I've decided to backdate the heating and remove the A/C. I'll shelve all the parts and they can easily be re-installed if I need to at a later date. Troy

I backdated my heat, removed my A/C and also my cruise control, and the rear of the car lifted almost an inch at the rear wheel arches! Removing weight off of the tail of a 911 is always a good move.
