I'd rather have a good-running/crappy looking car than a good-looking/crappy-running car.

It's all about the Zing, not the Bling, Grasshopper.

Besides, it's easier (and cheaper) to paint the car yourself than to do the mechanicals.

I thought you were talking about my 73 911T there for a minute. It's sometimes more rewarding to work on the appearance as the result is visible.

Oh yeah, if you have any money left over from that fundraiser I need a good bare metal repaint!

You need to look at the whole problem differently - there is something kinda cool about driving round in a mechanically perfect but cosmetically challenged car.

Plus you won't car if it gets a ding.

I agree...when Evren's car gets done with it's rehab at MSI in Portland? He'll have a '71 E with great mechanicals. But it will look like body & paint were done by a high school shop class...which is the perfect look for the coast to coast jaunt he has in mind! I mean, if you plan on walking through Central Park at midnight, which is better? Jeans, sweatshirt & tennie runners, or wearing a $$$$ suit and tie & flashing a gold rolex?
