From the VIN, your car is a RoW so I'm not sure that you would be able to get a COA but they will tell you.

If you find any sticker on the car (even paper one) post a pic of it.

Did the PO (previous owner) give you any idea where he got the car from?

Not familiar with the CA DMV but there might be a way to find previous registration (in State/out of State).

I did request the registration history from Texas, but the only record in the report is mine. I know the car has been in TX for at least 10-15 years, but apparently the previous title transfer must be older than the records that they have available.

The only stickers are the gold ones on the body, on the lip where the hood receiver is at, with the engine specs.

If you bought it from a business they might not be too enthused about about sharing any info but I would ask them if the car was from California. As for the valance it was distinctive to me but you might be right and all the S have that valence.
