Plaid Seat Project into '87 Carrera

Hi All,

I am embarking on a front seat project and looking for some input form the Pelican "hive mind". I have Ivory leather seats in my '87 that are in nice shape but I am constantly worried about getting them messed up. I have decided that I am going to put in some new (used) black front seats, but.....with the plaid centers. Like these.

and I finally some fabric that will work with my Cherryrot, black and ivory interior color scheme. : )

I don't want to spend the cash on 911 sporties and then reduce their value with the plaid inserts. I've been looking at 944 seats too, but most of them are beat down and the sporties are just as much as the 911 sporties (same seat maybe?)

So, in an effort to find something that might work and look somewhat similar, i stumbled across a few sets of Honda S2000 seats. They seam like they would take the plaid inserts well and have the seat belt receiver on the seat frame, similar to my '87. Plus in reading up on their comfort , they seem like a good seat for bigger guys ( I am 6" 1" 235). However, I have no clue about the seat rail sizing and what the actual installation effort might be like. Here is what they look like.

Can anyone here share anything about the S2K seats in a 911? I am also open to other suggestions. I just want a seat that can fit in the 911, is safe, comfortable for a bigger guy, holds a seat belt receiver, is not mucho $$$ and is manually operated.

Thanks.

I don't think you will be reducing value. Plaid interiors are desirable and unique.

Nice!

Where did you source the fabric?
That's a perfect color for a red, white or black car.
Cheers.

I've never done the swap you are talking about, but seems like the place to start is to look at the bottom of the seats for mounting bolt position. Would an aftermarket mounting bracket make a good adapter from honda to porsche mounts? Do you still need them to adjust fore and aft? If not it's pretty easy to make some bar stock brackets.

Found some 993 seats at a good price. They will bolt right in and it keeps the seats "in the family". Not manual, but I can live with that. I will update with progress later.
