Post body colored targa bar?

I have to repaint a few trim pieces(mirrors, front valance) and have been trying to decide whether or not I should paint the targa bar cover body color. I think it would look good because it would eliminate some of the black on my car. I feel my '80 just has too much black trim and this would lighten it up. Show me some pics if there are others out there who have done this.

I suppose it would depend on the color, but I don't think painting the targa bar body color is a good idea. It draws too much attention to the bar, and tends to make the car look taller and less sleek. Also kind of messes up the proportions. That's a lot of horizontal body color kind of just hanging out there in the middle of nowhere.
I think they painted it a matte black to kind of hide it and make it less noticeable, painting it body color tends to defeat that.
Of course, as with all things paint, that's just an opinion.

I've always toyed with the idea of a body-colored Targa bar and a body-colored fiberglass top. Now you've got me thinking again and I'm gonna go home and fool with Photoshop some...

(My Fuchs are colormatched...maybe I should go the whole 9 yards?)

Previous owner had this done. I was gonna go back original after I purchased the car but now it's kinda grown on me.

Jamey,

I really like the way the body color targa bar looks on your car. Maybe most of it is due to the color. Is that a factory color?

That looks good on Jameys car, on my car its ugly, my car is baby blue coloured. I have already been stripping the colour off. The bar should be black or original in my opinion.

Just a few days ago during work I drove past a Carrera Targa...a Speed Yellow Carrera Targa, with the targa bar painted. All I can say is that it was downright stunning. If the targa bar was left black it would've looked alright. But the whole body Speed Yellow, it just looked awesome. But that's just my opinion. Saw it on Vineyard Blvd, maybe if you're in the area you may see it too.

I thought that until I saw the teal metallic car in the thread mentioned earlier. I'm also fond of early targas with chrome bars; I'm not too fond of chrome on the red cars, though.
