81SC Frequency Valve test port, how is it wired up?
trying to wire up the frequency valve, I have a red wire and a brown wire. just wondering where the ground is and which of the fuses on the 3-fuse panel.
I cant find an obvious grounding point. Thanks! |
Red goes to Fuse 22 where the heater ventilation relay gets it's power.
Go to the tech info center. Find the 82 911 electric diagrams. The last diagram shows the three wires from the test connector. The second diagram shows where the red wire ties in to the fuse. Not sure where the ground ends up. |
I am pulling my 81 in tonight. Ask questions if you wish. I will look for ground point for brown.
Will PM you my phone number. Things are slow tonight. Call if you wanna. |
A lot of info in this thread. I had to run a separate pair of wires from my Lamda unit under the passengers seat in my 82 SC to the frequency valve to replace the previously shorted/burned wiring of a prior owner.

Not counting the green/white test wire, there would be a pair of wires that power the freq valve that flow thru the 12 pin connector at the back of the engine firewall. 12 pin #1 and 12 pin #2. Both should be black/red. You can read the numbers on the connectors (as you know). One goes to port 15 in the Lambda Box. The other to 87b on the oxy (Lambda) relay next to the Lambda box. Green/white from test connector goes to port 17 in lambda box. http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_82SC_Part6-2.jpg |
Thanks for all the help here. I believe my FV is correctly wired thru the 12pin. my last hurdle is identifying Fuse#22. I think this is the big red wire where the relay is getting juice.
thanks again, |
Does that black plastic cover over the rear relays and fuses have the fuse layout molded into it?
|
Maybe....I visually traced the red wire to the defroster relay. Let me see if I can find the cover. I don't know that this "car in a box" came with one. :)
|
we have some progress...from these photos...I have identified the fuse #22

so...deductive reasoning says: if the rear window defroster is #22 then slot 3 on my fuse panel is #22. And that's where I picked up hot for the CIS test port as shown in the photo :)
thanks for all the help...moving onto cleaning out the gas tank and replacing a soft fuel line |
Great. The hechsheibenheizung mystery has been resolved.
Sorry I did not pull my own but it's buried deep in a box of parts on a rack behind the motorcycle, behind the dusty XJ12 and portable work bench. Jack Olsen would not be impressed. :-) |
