Question WUR question.

I have a 79SC. Would the WUR cause a hesitation under load? I am trying to find my hesitation problem. It only happens under load from 4K to 5K. From reading posts on the board i decided to take my WUR out of the car and check it out. I ended up disassembling the unit and cleaning the part where the fuel goes in and out. It was a pain to reassemble (the cap, springs, and pin). I also cleaned some heavy corrsion off of the terminals where the connector from the car wiring is attached. I also put a little grease on the terminals to prevent the same corrosion. But now I am enjoying the rain from tropical storm Kyle. Looks like I can't take my car out today because of the heavy rain. What do you think?

I have already changed the cap, rotor button and plugs but not the plug wires.

I am pretty sure it does. It springs back after you turn it.

RazorRacer had problems similar to this and I did (but on the low RPM range). ANyways, it turned out to be vacuum advance problem. We now run w/o vacuum tot he distributor w/ more advance then recommended by the facotry spec. Follow the link.

close, but no cigar

Good luck.

Yes it can. I had what appeared to be a miss under load above 4000 rpms. I changed plugs, plug wires, fuel injectors and still had the problem. Took it to my machanic who tested the fuel distributor and then the warm up regulator. He said it was one or the other and since the wur was cheaper, we tried it first. Now the car runs great, (knock on wood). He said he could rebuild wur but since I was paying by the hour, it cost just a little more to just buy a new one.

Thanks for the help. As soon as all of this rain leaves the area I'll try it out.

finally found it!

I almost forgot to update my last post. I took my car out and it ran great. I have had this problem for about 4 months and wow what a difference it makes. I only drive my car about once week to work and I am looking forward to next week already.

Thanks to all for posting problems and solutions. I may not reply much but I am a daily reader of this forum.
