CIS -> EFI...Where to find Bosch part numbers?

I am thinking that a good choice for fuel injectors for my CIS to EFI conversion might be the Ford Motorsport 24lb injectors made by Bosch. These would provide excellent fuel capacity, Bosch (OEM) quality and a price nearly 1/3 that of Carrera injectors. However, while I have easily determined the Ford Motorsport part number for these injetcors (M9593A302), I have not been able to find a good source for converting this to a Bosch part number. Granted, I don't *need* the Bosch part number. But I'd like to include it in my project documentation for completeness. Thanks, |

Actually, I am undecided. Following your advice, I bought a set of 19lb Mustang injectors on eBay for $25 and expect them to arrive shortly. But after reading CamB's excellent thread regarding injector selection and the pros/cons of each model, I decided to try a set of 24lb injectors as well. This is all a learning experience for me and I am hoping to run some real-life tests to determine how each piece of the puzzle works and then document it. BTW - I checked out your website and it blew me away. Holy Fabrication Skills, Batman !! |

I thought you were gonna drop a turbo in it and thereby complete the R&D that the factory forgot to do (i.e. The 911SC Turbo !!)...:eek: Actually, I always assumed a benefit of the CIS -> EFI conversion (vs carbs) would be flexibility since it could work for both n/a and turbo or supercharged engines without major contortions...but that is based on very little automotive knowledge on my part... BTW - Ben, did you keep your CIS fuel pump? I noticed that all of the bosch injectors have flow rates dependent on fuel pressure and I have no clue what our OEM pumps are rated at... |
Any CIS fuel pump should be about 5 bar (x15 for PSI).
I think the WUR controls the fuel pressure to the fuel distributor and from there determines the richness of the mixture. The CIS injectors should start popping fuel at 60 PSI. YMMV, |
Ben is a little correct In that I am slacking somewhat on the megasquirt project. My plan is to complete the conversion during the winter storage period. I'm just enjoying the car during the summer/Fall.
Like Pillow said the stock fuel pump is more that good enough. The EFI fuel regulators (which you need to get) step down the fuel pressure to about 45psi. Once my EFI project is done the next project will be forced induction, no question. Not 100% sure whether to go turbo or supercharger though. |
Just as a few tidbits I left off earlier:
Here is an interesting concept that always make me think, "A fuel pump only provides a volume, restrictions in the system create the pressure." Pretty profound if you think about it enough. You can probably find a local junkyard for a all kinds of EFI pressure regulators. Most all (if not every) fule injection system that is not CIS runs the injectors in the 40-45 PSI range.
