gearbox chatter
I have some gearbox chatter at low rpm. It mostly goes away when I hold onto the gearshift lever or put pressure on it one way or another. What do you think that is attributable to?
Thanks Sheldon |

What's your idle speed?
We have a couple of cars fitted with light flywheels (3.0SC) an Aluminium clutches. At 800 rpm idle there is a slight shake that causes some chatter from the transmission with the box in neutral. At 960 rpm it does away, its is also fine in gear and under load. |

I have gear chatter in my 1966 TR4 and I believe it is from a warn out gear box.

We just discussed this issue a few weeks ago. It MAY be the G50 chatter which is normal.
Transmission 'chatter' - time for a rebuild?

My 915 in 82SC is pretty noisy specifically if you load it up in a higher gear at low rpm. I figured bearing noise and I was up for a rebuild at some point. Maybe it's normal ...
