73 911 resto

We are in the process of restoring a 73 911 and I'm looking for photos and info about the filler piece between the rear package tray and the rear window. Ours is missing without a trace and that is how it came to us. Nobody seems to make that piece so we are looking to recreate it but don't have a reference. Does anyone have any photos?

I had mine done last year. If I remember correctly we just welded the few holes that were there. The seat pans were a whole 'nother story.

Most of the rust on these cars comes from leaks around the rear and side window seals. Most of the damage might come from washing the car as much as it does from driving the car. The rubber dries out and when you wash your car the water runs onto the there rear tray and the seat pans. You don't even notice it.

Is this the piece you are referring to?

Tim K, yes that is the one. Did you make that or buy it? Maybe original? Lucky...

Berg,

Happily, I have an extra tub with some good parts.

It seems strange that this part would be missing unless there was some rust repair to be done. Is that the case?

A previous owner had done a real hack job before. It came to us with a thick piece of stainless where the package tray is supposed to be! I guess it rattled a bit so they cut and glued a packing blanket to it. When that didn't work they stuffed strips of old towels between the stainless and the body. Does anyone sell that panel?

Yikes, that's too bad. Post pics! There are often people cutting up tubs and offering parts in the classifieds here.
Could try a WTB add there.
