Help - Electical ground or short front and rea foglights

Since i dont know anything about electricals, i asked a buddy of mine to help me install and wire up my rear fog lights and since we were there, we installed the jwest head light relay. Everything went perfect where the front and rear fogs work simultaneously with daytime lights only or both daytime and headlights. Recently, I had to replace the rear valance with a fiberglass one to accomodate my GT3 style exhaust. All i did was to unplug the wire on the rear fogs put the FG valance drilled holes for the rear fog brackets and put the lone wire back. Initial test front fogs yes no rear fogs. so my buddy told me to make a ground since the valance is not metal. so i wired up something from the rear fog housing to the bumper blade as ground. Result front and rear fogs are ok but noticed that even though my foglight switch is off both fog lights still work once i turn on my daytime lights and/headlights. pulled out the black round fuse to avoid any shortage. What have i done wrong? Tried taking out the wire ground and pulled out the wire of the rear fog bulb to eliminate other causes but still my front fogs light up even fog switch is off once u run daytime lights We did the rear fog upgrade when i was still in NJ. Now im stuck with myself to fix this or maybe wack this

pS can i replace black round relay for fogs using a red one? I have extra red ones. Are they interchangeable?

are you sure the fog lgt sw is good?

did the fog lgt sw work before you changed the bumper?

if he wired it so power goes to the sw then the fig lgts, i would remove the wire from the sw to lgts, then check for power on the wire TO the sw with it on, and on the output terminal of the sw then turn the sw off and repeat.

Yes, the single stage switch was working fine until I took out the valance and cut the single wire from the bulb and taped it for 2 days until I got the replacement valance painted. When I put back the wire to the bulb no good so I ran a ground from the fog light housing to the bolt of the rear valance and I got it lighted but now even if switch is off both fronts and backs are still lighting when park light is on. I will look into the switch as recommended. Thanks

use a test light,
clip it ground/bare metal/ check to make sure it works.
with the lights on, remove the wire from the SW to the fog.
check for power on both terminals.
turn the fog SW off and repeat. one should no longer light the test light.
