Our new arrival finally is home

Our "new" '73E sunroof coupe just arrived at home a short while ago. The trip was uneventful. My wife, Lu. drove "her" E home while I tagged along in the support vehicle. She enjoyed the drive except for the uncomfortable sport seats. Now before you guys flood me with emails asking to take them off of our hands, , I'll probably just try to get them restuffed to improve the lumbar support. Here's a teaser pic...

Have Fun.

Jim, just wanted to let you know that no amount of upholstery work can make those awful sport seats comfortable. I will, however, out of the kindness of my heart be willing to trade you for the proper and ever so comfy stock seats I have.

Love the color. Burgandy is so nice on an early car. Good find.

Congrats,
Bobby

Congrats Jim and Lu.

Now you just have to make sure that Lu doesn't push that car and out drive you Jim

Congrats Jim! I know the search was long, but it looks like it paid off. Now, how about some details and more photos .........

RE: sport seats?? Is the padding worn out in the lumbar area or what? Mine are quite comfortable although a tad narrow in the thigh area. -- Curt

Nice score, Jim. I have always loved aubergine. Appears to be a tan interior w/ darker colored seats(?) Cork did not come along until years later, possibly '78/9?

Congrats and kudos. Great car and I can't wait to see it. I've seen some nice early cars here in CA this week.

Thanks all! It's aubergine with russet (brown) interior. The PO had tried to dye the sport seats to take care of some worn spots and got the color a bit too dark. Instead of redoing them in russet, we're toying with going to a black interior. Jury's still out on that, though. I'll try to shoot a few more pics tomorrow when there's light.

Regards,

Jim and Lu--

Congratulations. Looks like a beaut. But what's that dark, heavy mass in the foreground?

It's the 993. I'm stuck with it, as Lu has claimed the E for herself.

She chose you, and she chose the E. I can't reconcile those choices.

That dark heavy mass is the donor car for my 3.6 conversion

Now, Marc. You don't want Jim and Lu fighting over who gets to drive the 'E', do you?
