ER ASP rear springs

Has anyone used the Elephant Racing ASP rear spring set-up? Would like comments on this before I pull the trigger. My car is a highly modified 930 with probably a 80/20 street/track use.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I recently finish a complete suspension rebuilt/upgrade including the ASP. I replaced all the stock bushings with ER poly bronze, 21/27 hollow TBs, Bilstein HD front and rear, new ball joints, turbo tie rod ends, put new bearings in the rack and pinion box, mono balls front and rear.

I could not be happier with the setup, but because I did this all at once on a car with 217000 + miles, I can't specifically address the ASP's contribution. Originally, I hadn't planned on the ASP, because of the cost, but when I found that one of my spring plates was bend, so I splurged. I also installed the Quick Change splined hub.

The intent is to eventually get it down to the track. It handled very well, even with the old parts. Now, it handles like it's on rails. Very responsive, turn the wheel and it immediately tracts.

Sorry I can't pin point the the exact contribution of the ASP, but I'm very happy with it.

Mike

Good to hear that someone here has installed these without any issues.
How hard is it to adjust ? I am planning on a very similar setup as well.

Alright - only a 3 month span from my original question to some kind of response.

sv951 - dude, what were you doing. Had to be bored to find this old post.

Thanks morrisjm1 for your response. How was adjusting this unit. I spoke to Chuck at Rennsport about this product, and he was very technically helpful. Had to pry out a little info though - sometimes Chuck is just too serious - needs to relax some. But great products.

Keep me posted how its working

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

The adjustment is explained in the instructions and is pretty straight forward. I just eyeballed the adjustment for the front and rear and drove it 60 miles for new tires, an alignment, and corner balance. If you are not replacing the tires, then you need a fairly close alignment shop or a better eye than I have, because the tires were pretty scuffed up when I got to the shop and if it was raining I think the drive would have been dangerous. The shop was familiar with the ASP and had no problem setting the car up.

If you are contemplating the ER products I suggest you download the installation instructions from the web site and give them a look while you're thinking about the purchase, to get a feel for what you're up against. The instructions are very good and you shouldn’t have any problems. I made one mistake; I installed the rear poly bronze bushings, per the instructions, before I decided to go with the ASP. So the grease fittings are not where they should be. It is very difficult to get a grease gun back there, if fact, it looks like I’ll have to grind a nozzle down to get one back there. In college I worked at a concrete plant and I’m sure the grease monkey had a fitting that would do the job, but I haven’t found one yet. If you are planning to use poly bronze bushings and the ASP, I would align bushing grease fittings with the ASP’s grease fittings.

I could use a little relaxation, that's for sure

Mark I think I remember speaking with you an Rennsport, but I must have talked to 1000+ people.

If anyone has specific questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Chuck has always seemed relaxed to me. Maybe because he never takes someone wearing bunny ears, serious.....

Just trolling through threads, taking some time off while my eyes heal...and wondering how the ASP system (which I have and will be going on my Carrera 6 speed project) has been working out.

I am planning on just street driving, like the idea of better adjustability and camber change and would love to hear experiences from people who have had it on their cars for a few years....
