02 Sensor Question?
Hi All
I have a 82 SC with SSI's on. I've noticed a rough idle since I installed them. Thought I have been running lean (a little hot/disclored muffler tip) so I disconnected my sensor. The idle seems much smoother now just had to lower it a couple 100 RPM. Would it help to richen it up a bit more with the mixture screw or leave it alone? Thanks Glen |
The O2 sensor should be replaced at 60,000 miles. If you have the mileage, and haven't replaced it, I'd replace it now and see what happens to your idle.

Glen,
You don't need the O2 sensor connected on any 3.0 SC (except at smog test time ;) ) Unlike the DME cars, our CIS systems don't rely on a O2 sensor for mixture control. Unplug the bastard, richen the mixture to around 3.5%CO, and enjoy the ride! |
I have an 83SC and NO O2 ! runs better without it, but you do need to have your car adjusted after removal of the sensor,a 4 gas analizer works the best to get it exactly right.
